lilacsThe wind chimes herald
thunder’s grumbling, rumbling bass
and hail’s tympani.

Bees shelter beneath
a tulip’s fallen petals
wait out the downpour.

Sweeping the sidewalk
after a spring storm has passed:
a rush of lilac!
